Andrea and John Wimmer have hosted the "Bumpas" since Spring, 2003. They have traveled extensively, visiting B&B's and collecting ideas to enhance the experience for their own guests. Andrea loves cooking in her state-of-the-art kitchen, which was recently featured on Greensboro's Tour of Remodeled Homes.
John tends the gardens and houseplants, keeping the home stocked with fresh roses and other cut flowers. Most of all they enjoy welcoming and getting to know guests from around the country and around the world. They also provide concierge services, having personally sampled many of the area's restaurants and various types of entertainment.
Inn History
The house was built in 1847 and occupied by the Bumpas family until 1976. The Reverend Bumpas, inspired by a painting of the Parthenon, chose a Greek revival design and set the house on a stately knoll overlooking Greensboro Female College (now Greensboro College). Over the years the surrounding neighborhood developed into the now popular College Hill District. Today the Inn is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and Guilford County Historic Register.
The Inn's guestrooms are named to remember the Troy sisters who lived in the home, the four grand-daughters of Reverend and Mrs. Bumpas. The sisters included this greeting in the Troy Family Papers, from the early 1900's.
"We send accumulated prayers and good wished from three generations of living within these dear comforting walls. The old homestead has been rich in joy and laughter and filled with the dreams and hopes of youth and blessed by the prayers and quiet meditation of age. Its doors have been flung wide to friend and stranger. Here even yankee officers of the army found solace. God is the father of all. Come in."

More information about Greensboro's Historic Bed and Breakfast
Relax in the living room. With original paneling, built-in bookcases, and a tiled fireplace, the living room is available for small gatherings.
Visit in the Parlor with your Greensboro friends or other guests. The parlor is also a great place to read or just relax and listen to selections from our classical and contemporary music collection. Careful though, it has a sleep-inducing effect on some of us.
Enjoy the warmth of the Sun Room, an extension of our garden and patio. It is occasionally used as a private breakfast area.
Meet Ginger & Sammy our official welcoming committee. They happily accept doggie treats from our guests (we provide the treats, at no charge!) and will gladly go home with you if you invite them into your car. They are very friendly, but they aren't allowed into the Inn (John is allergic), and if you prefer to avoid canine company they are kept in their own private quarters during your stay.
